Fire Warden Training.

Background:

Fire can be devastating for a business and some may never reopen after a major fire. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires employers to have a strategy to evacuate all occupants within a building. The legislation requires a risk based approach to fire safety in community industrial and business premises, and requires the responsible person ( usually the employer or occupier) to carry out a fire risk assessment an implement appropriate fire precautionary and protective measures. Businesses are recognising the importance of having fully trained fire wardens as part of their emergency evacuation strategy.

Aims.

The course aims to provide delegates with suitable and sufficient information to assist them act proactively in identifying fire hazards and dangers before a fire occurs, and to assist in the emergency evacuation of occupants from buildings if it becomes necessary.

Who should attend:

The course is suitable for all people with responsibility for fire safety including; fire wardens and fire marshalls as well as line managers, supervisors and safety representatives.

Course duration: 1 day.

Course content:

  • Basic principles of fire.
  • Classification of fire.
  • Basic principles fire spread.
  • Common causes and consequences of fire.
  • Legislation requirements and fire risk assessments.
  • Control measures to minimise risk of fire.
  • Structural measures to prevent spread of fire and smoke.
  • Fire detection, warning and fire fighting equipment.
  • Fire plans and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Summary.
  • Assessment – written test.

Certification:

Candidates will be issued with a BLE training certificate upon successful completion of written test and training course.
